SoMoMo 7: Ahhhh....

Sometimes, after a long day of work and having fun with friends, Sirus Monkey just needs to unwind. It's not a bad life being a sock monkey, but even Sirus has his stresses.

Some nice red wine, a snugly bathrobe, what could be better?

Ahhhh.....

Eli Monkey isn't included in today's photos because that's real red wine, and Eli Monkey is under age. The law applies to sock monkeys too!

SoMoMo 6: On the Sixth Day, JOY!!!

On the Sixth Day of Hanukkah, There was a Surprise

Sirus and Eli, both being low on funds decided that for the holidays this year, it would be only small gifts, mostly of the homemade variety. Ones that wouldn't bankrupt them, since sock monkeys don't have jobs. Then, this showed up on the doorstep today:

A Big Box address to Eli Monkey!

Eli wasted no time in digging right in

Oh Eli, always have to show your bum off, don't you? At least it's cute.

Inside the box?

I think he likes his gift.

Sirus Monkey came over to innocently ask...

And was attacked in the best possible way.

Lots of hugs and kisses for the Best. Husband. Ever.

I think Eli Monkey is the Happiest Monkey in the World right now!!!

A little back story... Eli had the Best Laptop Ever, Laptop Jack, but back in June, it Laptop Jack died a horrible death. Sirus Monkey was being very nice and allowing Eli Monkey to share his computer (well, take it really), but it just wasn't the same.

Eli Monkey's new laptop is a custom built HP dm3, the closest thing to Laptop Jack that anyone makes. Also, it has all sorts of special cooling technology so the same fate which befell Laptop Jack won't befall this one. I had a name in mind, but every time I name a computer, it dies.

SoMoMo 5: Getting Inked

It's day 5 of Hanukkah

Today, it was a visit to the Monkeyville Tattoo Studio for Sorento Monkey. Eli and Sirus Monkey were there to hold his hand, but Sorento was too tough for that and just gritted his teeth.

Step one, the layout.

Have to make sure that tattoo is on right, and doesn't end up saying "WOW" instead of "MOM".

Second step, black "ink".

That's the hardest part, but not painful for Sorento since it was done off of his arm.

Next step, the white and red ink. This had to hurt:

That is one big needle. Three inches to be precise.

Finally, Sorento with his finished tat:

Aw, cute, widdle tough guy!!!

Hanging Up The Holly

 Well, Why Not?

Eli Monkey has been working hard to make sure that Sirus Monkey has a Very Nice Hanukkah. There has been lots of snuggles, a few Very Small gifts, and A Lot of Really Good food. Hanukkah isn't Hanukkah without the great food. We're halfway through Hanukkah, and now that the weekend has rolled around, Sirus has started the preparations to make sure that Eli has a Very Nice Christmas (awww). Soon, there will be some photos of them decorating, but they haven't started yet. Due to kitties, the tree has to go up a week before decorating so they get bored with it.

Something like this would be nice:
Best. Tree. Ever.
  Best. Tree. Ever.

Sirus Monkey's tree will have sock monkeys on it, but not nearly that many.

However, since no one really has money for gifts this year, the bottom of the tree was looking pretty empty.
In lieu of presents...
Thankfully, there are loads of sock monkeys to take the place of the presents! This has the added bonus of preventing the kitties from playing under the tree as well.

Not that they didn't try.

We have to stop telling him he's cute. He's totally milking it now.

SoMoMo 3: Pirates and Reindeer, Oh My!

 Monkeyville Has Been Invaded Again...

Thankfully, the only pirates that invade Monkeyville are nice, cuddly ones, not the Very Evil pointy ones.

Captain Longsocks, is all set to go to his new home!

He's made with the same kinds of socks as Captain Ellie, the pink pirate.

Unlike Ellie the Pirate, this one has an eye patch that's made entirely from felt.

I don't know if Pirates typically come with reindeer for companions, but this one did! Two in fact, Max and Olive.

Olive:
Why is the reindeer named Olive? Because of a TV special a few years ago (maybe a lot of years ago): "Olive the other reindeer".

Yes, I'm a dork.

Max:

Max is also named after a character in a Christmas movie, though this time a better known one. See, when I did the very first pair of antlers, they looked just like the ones that the Grinch ties on to Max the dog. Thus, in tribute to the amazing Dr. Seuss, it's Max the Reindeer!

Max and Olive are really similar. The main difference is the size of their tails and the color of their mouths. Max has a tan colored mouth, while Olive got into the lipstick and is sporting a bright red mouth.

SoMoMo 2: Baby It's Cold Outside!

 Baby It's Cold Outside
In fact, it's freezing outside, but here in Monkeyville, it's nice and cozy, because as a Special Hanukkah treat, Eli Monkey made matzo ball soup! Eli Monkey, being a college student (going to Harvard), and Sirus Monkey, being an artist don't have a lot of gifts for each other. Instead, they're showing that the love each other in more meaningful ways.

YUM!!!

Eli Monkey is quite the cook, but he admitted to using his Mommy's secret recipe.

Lots of veggies (carrots and celery), lots of matzo balls, lots of noodles and left over turkey from Thanksgiving*.

It was also time to light the menorah.

Pretty! Also, next year, we buy the same candles, because these ones, while expensive, don't drip!

Happy Sock Monkey Month Everyone!

*There is also a bit of rabbit in there, which was left over from dinner Sunday night. Rabbit tastes pretty much like dark meat chicken, so you can't even tell it's in the soup. It's what we had.

Sock Monkey Month: YAY!!! *Spazzy Arm Waving*

That's right, this month is all about the sock monkeys, and there are lots and lots of things that  the monkeys are up to. Eli and Sirus have been Very Busy the past couple of days, because not only is it Sock Monkey Month, but Hanukkah started today at sundown.

As always, Eli and Sirus have been BUSY! Eli Monkey had the idea to decorate the house for Hanukkah, because he wanted to have a nice First Hanukkah together with Sirus Monkey.

That meant a shopping spree!

Everything Eli Monkey got was blue or white, and Very Sparkly.

Eli Monkey made a centerpiece for the coffee table. Impressive for a guy with no fingers!

Sirus Monkey worked on the centerpiece for the table.

Sirus Monkey arranged the flowers, but Eli picked them out.

Aw....

After the snuggling, Cosmo helped Eli and Sirus put the finishing touch on the decorations (for now).

Even though they're made from socks, they're all good climbers!

HAPPY SOCK MONKEY MONTH EVERYONE!!!
